Experience of Harassment and Emotional Distress in Female University Students

Abstract

The current study was conducted to find out the experience of harassment and emotional distress in female university students. It was hypothesized that a) there is likely to be a relationship between experience of harassment and emotional distress in female university students. It was also hypothesized that experience of harassment is the predictor of emotional distress. The sample consists of (N = 100) female university students with age range between 18-30 years. Purposive sampling strategy was used to collect data from one of the Public Sector University. Self-Constructed Scale EOH and ED were used to measure the experience of harassment and emotional distress. Pearson Product- Moment Correlation was used to find out relationship between experience of harassment and emotional distress in female university students. The findings revealed that there is a significant correlation experience of harassment and emotional distress. Regression analysis was used to find out the prediction. The findings revealed that experience of harassment is a significant predictor of emotional distress.
