Abstract
The present investigation studied the differences between burnout and anger in women with Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) and their matched controls. It was hypothesized that there will be difference between burnout and anger in women with Acute Myocardial Infarction and their matched controls. It was also hypothesized that there will be a relationship between burnout and anger. Case control research design was used for conducting the present research. Maslach burnout inventory (Maslach & Jackson, 1986) and State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (Speilberger, 1985) were used to measure the study variables. Purposive sampling technique was used to collect data. Sample consisted of 50 women (25 patients and 25 matched controls) aged 45-65 years. Sample was recruited from three different hospitals of Lahore city. Independent sample t-test and Pearson Product Moment correlation were used to analyze data. The findings suggest that there is a significant difference between burnout and anger in women with Acute Myocardial Infarction and their matched controls. Results also revealed a significant positive relationship between burnout and anger. Implications for interventions of the study along with limitations and suggestions of the study are being discussed.
