Abstract
The present study aimed to determine the relationship between humor styles and social self-efficacy among college students. It was hypothesized that there is likely to be positive relationship between humor and social self-efficacy. It was also hypothesized that positive humor style was positively correlated with social self-efficacy and negative humor style was negatively correlated with social self-efficacy. Furthermore, there is likely to be gender difference in social self-efficacy. Correlational research design was used for present study. Total sample of 150 students (N = 150) including 74 males (N = 74) and 76 females (N = 76) with age range of 16-18 years (M = 17, SD = .82), were taken using convenient sampling technique. Data was collected by using Humor Style Questionnaire (Martin & Doris, 2003) and Social Self Efficacy Scale (Muris, 2001). Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Independent Sample t-test were conducted for data analysis. Results revealed that humor was positively correlated with social self-efficacy. Similarly, positive and negative humor styles were positively correlated with social self-efficacy. Furthermore, females showed more social self-efficacy as compare to males. Findings of present study can be implied in educational setting. Further limitations and suggestion are discussed.
